Best Ecommerce Platforms for Southeast Asia 2026: The Definitive Guide
Corrected 2026-10-31: this page previously said Shopline's Shopee and Lazada sync needs no extra app, that Shopline is the pick for Thailand, that about 70% of initial sales happen on marketplaces, that Sirclo suits Indonesian MSMEs on a budget, and that Thailand and Vietnam lead the world in chat-to-pay. It also carried star ratings and a USD 50k revenue threshold with no source behind them. Those claims are removed or replaced below, and every remaining fact is listed under Sources with the date it was read.
Choosing an ecommerce platform in Southeast Asia (SEA) in 2026 starts with where buyers already are. Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop hold almost all platform sales, so the first question for any storefront is how it connects to them.
This guide sets out what Shopify, Shopline, WooCommerce, TikTok Shop and three local specialists publish on their own pricing and product pages. We read those pages. We did not test the products.
1. What to Check First
- Marketplace share: Shopee, Lazada and TikTok Shop (including Tokopedia) together hold about 98.8% of Southeast Asia's platform e-commerce market, worth US$157.6 billion in 2025 and up 22.8% year on year. Shopee alone holds 53% and ranks first in all six markets. Thailand and Malaysia grew fastest, at 51.8% and 47.6%, and Indonesia remains the largest market with 37% of GMV. (Momentum Works, Ecommerce in Southeast Asia 2026, published 14 April 2026.)
- Chat selling: Check which chat apps a platform connects to. Haravan lists Facebook, Instagram, Zalo OA and Shopee Chat in one inbox. SHOPLINE's help centre documented LINE channel integration, broadcast, 1:1 chat and order notifications when we searched it on 19 August 2026.
- Local payments: QRIS is Bank Indonesia's QR payment standard, PromptPay is the Thai payment infrastructure launched in 2016, and DuitNow is PayNet's payment service in Malaysia. Confirm each one with the gateway you plan to use.
- Couriers: Carrier connections differ by platform and country. Prosperna, for example, lists LBC, Lalamove, J&T and Grab booking for the Philippines.
2. Platform Comparison: The Big Four
Shopify
- Published price: Basic is S$29 a month on the Singapore price list.
- Marketplaces: Shopee and Lazada connect through apps in the Shopify App Store. One example, Easy Shopee, Lazada & TikTok from Sane Men LLC, starts at $5 a month.
- Payments: Singapore is the only SEA country on Shopify's supported list for Shopify Payments. A business elsewhere in the region needs a third-party provider, and the Singapore price list shows a third-party transaction fee of 2% on Basic, falling to 0.2% on Plus.
- Fits: Singapore businesses, which can use Shopify Payments. Sellers elsewhere should add the third-party fee and app costs to the plan price.
Shopline
- Published price: Starter is SGD 39 a month on the Singapore price list, with a 14-day free trial.
- Marketplaces: SHOPLINE's Multichannel Connect syncs products, orders and inventory with Shopee, Lazada, TikTok, Amazon and others. SHOPLINE describes it as an app, so confirm whether your plan includes it.
- In-store: SHOPLINE POS starts at SGD 52 a month per location. SHOPLINE says it handles GTO submission for over 100 malls in Singapore and Malaysia.
- Payments: Without SHOPLINE Payments, the Singapore price list charges 2% (a transaction fee or commission) on Starter, 0.8% or up to 2% on Essential, and 0.6% or up to 2% on Premium.
- Fits: Retailers with physical stores in Singapore or Malaysia who want online and POS in one system.
WooCommerce
- Published price: The core plugin is free with no monthly subscription and no revenue share. Woo estimates hosting at $25 to $350 a month for most stores.
- Payments: You pick your processor. WooPayments lists Singapore as its only SEA country, so sellers elsewhere in the region need another gateway.
- Fits: Teams that can run their own hosting and updates and want control of checkout and data.
TikTok Shop
TikTok Shop is a sales channel rather than a storefront you own, so compare it on fees.
- Fees: In Indonesia, TikTok Shop raised the cap on its dynamic commission from Rp40,000 to Rp650,000 per item on 18 May 2026, as Bisnis.com reported. On a Rp1 million item in women's clothing and shoes, the deduction went from Rp40,000 to Rp80,000. Check the current rate for your category and country.
- Fits: Sellers whose sales already come from TikTok content, and who have priced in rising fees.
3. Comparison Matrix
| Platform | Published starting price | Shopee and Lazada | Payments note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shopify | S$29 a month (Basic, Singapore list) | Third-party apps | Shopify Payments: Singapore only in SEA |
| Shopline | SGD 39 a month (Starter, Singapore list) | Multichannel Connect app | 2% fee or commission on Starter without SHOPLINE Payments (0.6% or up to 2% on Premium) |
| WooCommerce | Free, plus hosting | Not checked | WooPayments: Singapore only in SEA |
4. Local Specialised Alternatives
- Prosperna: Serves Philippine businesses. Lists GCash, Maya, cards and cash on delivery, plus LBC, Lalamove, J&T and Grab booking.
- Sirclo: An Indonesian omnichannel commerce enabler that describes its customers as enterprise brands, about 1,000 of them, since 2013. Small sellers should ask whether it serves them.
- Haravan: A Vietnamese multi-channel platform that says 60,000+ customers use it. It syncs products, orders and customer data from Shopee, TikTok Shop, Lazada and Tiki.
5. Support and Operations
Before buying a helpdesk, ask the vendor to confirm that it connects to the channels your customers use, including LINE and each marketplace you sell on.
Localisation Rule
The best platform is the one that can localise operations, not only storefront copy. Check whether it supports local payment methods, marketplace feeds, invoice fields, courier labels, tax settings, and language-specific customer notifications for the country you are entering. A beautiful storefront that cannot reconcile GCash, DuitNow, PromptPay, or marketplace payouts will create finance work every week.
For regional brands, choose one system of record before adding more channels. Decide whether inventory lives in the ecommerce platform, POS, ERP, or warehouse tool. Without that decision, every expansion into Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop, or a local marketplace adds another place where stock can become wrong.
Final Control Check
Before committing, run one full order from ad click to refund. That single test exposes payment, fulfilment, support, and accounting gaps quickly.
6. Match the Platform to Your Market
- Selling from Singapore? Start with Shopify, where Shopify Payments is available, and compare it with Shopline if you also run physical stores.
- Physical stores in Malaysia? Compare Shopline POS and its mall GTO coverage against your current system.
- Selling in Thailand? This guide names no single pick. Confirm PromptPay with your gateway first. Shopify Payments and WooPayments do not list Thailand, SHOPLINE's regional site selector showed no Thailand site on 31 October 2026, and its help centre returned no PromptPay result on 19 August 2026, so ask SHOPLINE directly.
- Enterprise brand in Indonesia? Look at Sirclo. Smaller sellers should ask first, since Sirclo describes itself as serving enterprise brands.
- Selling in Vietnam? Look at Haravan.
- Selling in the Philippines? Look at Prosperna.
